 Yes, just in time for Summer (at least, it’s Summer here in the USA) comes the latest tip from the Menznews’ research staff – for better sexual function, eat watermelon! The reason for this is that watermelon has a high concentration of arginine – which I describe in other parts of this web site – and citrulline (which turns into arginine). This is good because arginine raises nitric oxide levels – the crucial gas that causes muscles in blood vessels to relax. When these muscles can’t relax completely, the blood vessels aren’t able to keep blood in the penis – hence, erection problems.

As you may know, Viagra (and similar drugs and herbs) works through this system – it was originally tested for people with blood vessel disease. So, the next time you take Viagra, take it with a few slices of watermelon (instead of a fatty meal, which blocks Viagra’s benefits).
The research I read said that yellow watermelon has slightly more arginine than red; but the red has another benefit – as much lycopene as a tomato! So, not only with it make your erection better, it will also help your prostate. There is also some evidence that you should eat the rind as well as the red “flesh” of the melon. This is something you can do if you have a juicer.
